Charity Day 2025: Working together to make spaces and hearts blossom

This autumn, our first MB Energy Charity Day in Germany took place – a pilot project that showed us how much can be achieved together in a short space of time. The sustainability team is particularly pleased that colleagues from different departments came together to provide practical support to Haus Marie, run by AWO Hamburg-Farmsen. This project demonstrated how important our team spirit and commitment are and how much power joint action can generate – in line with the motto: Our Energy, Your Way.

Haus Marie is much more than just a building – it is a place where important social work is carried out every day: support for families, language training, counselling and discussions, a meeting place for people from all walks of life, and a safe space for anyone seeking guidance or help. At the same time, it is a workplace and retreat for the social workers who carry out this demanding work with heart and commitment every day.

Together, we painted rooms, tidied up areas and repotted many plants so that they can grow vigorously again. In this way, we are creating an environment that offers both visitors and employees of the house a warm, welcoming and supportive second home.

Many of us were working together for the first time that day – and yet the collaboration worked smoothly from the very beginning. This uncomplicated, cross-team cooperation was one of the most valuable outcomes of the day.

We were also particularly moved by the feedback from the AWO team. They told us how impressed they were by the energy with which we started, how committed we were to our work and how positive the atmosphere was throughout the entire assignment. This appreciation confirmed to us that our contribution had an impact exactly where it was needed – among the people who do social work every day with heart and dedication.

And one thing is certain:

this pilot project has sparked enthusiasm that demands more. Both the participants and our external partners have expressed a clear desire to continue this commitment. The shared experience has shown how inspiring it is when many hands and hearts work towards a common goal.

"Charity Day impressively demonstrated how much power can be generated through joint action. The practical support provided at Haus Marie not only transformed rooms, but also brought people together. For those of us working in the field of sustainability, it is precisely this kind of impact that is valuable."
