Situated just off the A420, not far from Junction 15 of the M4, the Swindon Truckstop has undergone significant enhancements and refurbishment to benefit HGV drivers and road users, building on Onroute’s ongoing commitment to offering safe, secure, and well-equipped rest and refuelling locations across key UK transport routes. The site now boasts a new access and security system (working on being accredited TAPA level 3), three additional HGV parking bays, and a completely refurbished service building to include a new café and modern welfare facilities. Featuring a fully automated 24/7 HGV fuelling station with diesel, Renewable Diesel (HVO) and AdBlue, safe and floodlit parking for over 80 vehicles, a welcoming café serving freshly cooked meals, and essential on-site amenities, the Swindon Truckstop is designed around driver welfare, load security and operator convenience, while at the same time supporting customers’ roadside needs both today and into the future.
The inclusion of Renewable Diesel (HVO) at the Swindon site reflects Onroute’s commitment to supporting customers through the energy transition, recognising the increasing pressure on fleet operators to reduce emissions and publish environmental data. HVO is now available across Onroute’s network and is expected to play a significant role as customers consider practical, near-term solutions to decarbonising road transport.
The official reopening event took place on Friday 16th January 2026, with celebrations and representatives from the professionals and contractors who delivered the improvements, Department for Transport (DfT) who part funded the project, industry professionals, key customers, key suppliers and leadership teams from across the MB Energy group in attendance.
Hannah Tooze, Deputy Director Road Freight at the Department for Transport, gave a short speech before Heidi Alexander, MP for Swindon South, completed the official opening by raising the new security barrier for Emmanuel Bercea, driver of a Turners of Soham fuel tanker bringing in a load of 36,000 litres of diesel supplied by MB Energy, through its subsidiary BWOC Ltd.
“Today marks an exciting milestone for Onroute Truckstops and our continued investment in critical infrastructure for the UK logistics and transport sector”, says André Cardoso, SVP Sales & Marketing at MB Energy. “It reflects our broader strategy to invest in the right assets, expand our portfolio and provide agile, future-ready solutions that support customers through the energy transition.”
“The refurbished Swindon facility exemplifies our commitment to driver welfare, safety, security and services for those who keep our economy moving”, adds Florian Lueckmann, Director Commercial Road Transport at MB Energy. “We are proud to open this enhanced facility and look forward to welcoming drivers and travellers from across Europe.”
Onroute’s expanding network of truckstops across the UK continues to provide vital services to drivers and fleet operators. Onroute is part of the MB Energy group’s commercial road transport unit which offers fuel card services and operates more than 400 conventional fuels stations within the tankpool24 network, which includes over 2,000 fuelling locations across Europe.
