Over 200,000 trees: BWOC is strengthening climate protection

Our subsidiary BWOC has launched a program that offers customers with a fuel card the opportunity to offset emissions from the fuel they purchase by contributing to reforestation projects. When a BWOC fuel card is used, 10% of the resulting emissions are generally offset through CO2 sequestration projects. This amount is funded by BWOC. Customers can decide whether they would like to cover the additional costs to sequester an additional 40% or 90% of CO2 .

Since 2010, BWOC has reforested a total of 155 hectares of land in the United Kingdom with 200,000 trees, thereby offsetting 43,000 metric tons of CO2 . In 2015, the BWOC project in Harperrig, UK—where 10,700 trees had been planted five years earlier—was recertified under the UK Woodland Carbon Code. This recertification after five years marks a new step in the Woodland Carbon Code certification process, which Harperrig was the first project to complete.
