There are also special management systems that companies can voluntarily join, such as the globally recognized standard OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series - Standard for Occupational Health and Safety Management). OHSAS can be combined with standards for quality management (ISO 9001) and environmental management (ISO 14001). EMAS is another voluntary instrument for sustainable environmental management and is implemented by the European Union.
