Over 200,000 trees: BWOC is boosting climate protection

Our subsidiary BWOC has set up a programme that offers customers with a fuel card the opportunity to offset emissions from the fuel they purchase by contributing to reforestation projects. When a BWOC fuel card is used, 10 per cent of the resulting emissions are generally offset throughCO₂ sequestration projects. This amount is funded by BWOC. Customers can choose whether they wish to cover the additional costs for the sequestration of a further 40 per cent or 90 per centof CO₂ .

Since 2010, BWOC has reforested a total of 155 hectares of land in the UK, planting 200,000 trees and thereby offsetting 43,000 tonnesof CO₂ . In 2015, the BWOC project in Harperrig, UK – where 10,700 trees had been planted five years earlier – was recertified under the UK Woodland Carbon Code. This recertification after five years marks a new stage in the Woodland Carbon Code certification process, which Harperrig was the first project to complete.
