Mabanaft and Lechner Racing have entered into a long-term partnership to reduce CO₂ emissions

  • Under a three-year partnership agreement, Mabanaft will support the decarbonisation of Lechner Racing’s road transport vehicles.
  • To this end, Mabanaft will supply Lechner Racing with renewable diesel and voluntary emission reduction certificates (VERs).
  • The partnership agreement covers the 2023–2025 Porsche Supercup seasons.

Mabanaft, a leading independent and integrated energy company, and Lechner Racing, the most successful team in Porsche Supercup history, are delighted to announce a new long-term partnership.

Over the next three years, spanning the Porsche Supercup seasons from 2023 to 2025, Mabanaft will enable Lechner Racing to reduce theCO₂ emissions of its road transport vehicles to net zero. To this end, Mabanaft will supply Lechner Racing with renewable diesel to fuel its lorries, as well as voluntary emission reduction certificates (VERs) to offset any remainingCO₂ emissions from road transport, where applicable.

The partnership is a good example of how two companies can work together to achieve a common goal. Whilst Lechner Racing benefits from a sustainable solution that is in line with its values and helps to reduce itscarbon footprint, Mabanaft can demonstrate its commitment to sustainability and innovation.

“The partnership with Lechner Racing is a great opportunity for Mabanaft to show that we can deliver carbon-free transport solutions and that we are committed to actively shaping the energy transition,” says Jon Perkins, CEO of Mabanaft.

“We want to support our customers in their decarbonisation efforts by offering them innovative mobility solutions to reduce theirCO₂ emissions,” explains Volker Ebeling, Senior Vice President of New Energy, Chemicals & Gas at Mabanaft. “The partnership with Lechner Racing is an opportunity for us to demonstrate how this can be achieved through a combination of renewable diesel and VERs.”

Robert Lechner, CEO of Lechner Racing, adds: “As a family-run business, we value long-term partners who share our ambition to achieve excellence in everything we do. The partnership with Mabanaft enables us to demonstrate our commitment to reducing ourcarbon footprint in the world of motorsport and to lead by example. We are convinced that the partnership will not only help us achieve our sustainability goals, but that it will also improve our overall performance and give us a competitive edge.”

Over the course of the partnership, the parties aim to further develop the basic concept to include the decarbonisation of additional aspects of the team’s logistics and to offer other lower-carbon products, such as Sustainable Aviation Fuel and e-fuels, alongside renewable diesel and VERs.

The partnership between Mabanaft and Lechner Racing is an excellent example of how private-sector companies are working together to promote decarbonisation and contribute to a sustainable future for all.
