For the first time, we have doubled the funding amount, thereby giving two students the opportunity to receive a scholarship. Our Sustainability Teamwas presentat the award ceremony on 6 October 2025 to congratulate the scholarship recipients in person. In a brief speech, we also offered some thoughts on the topics of equal opportunities and social responsibility – core values that also shape our sustainability strategy.
The Hamburg Scholarship was launched by the Studierendenwerk Hamburg AöR in the winter semester of 2018/2019. It is aimed at students with a migrant or refugee background, as well as first-generation university students whose parents did not attend higher education in Germany. As well as financial support, the programme also offers non-financial support through mentoring, networking events and further training opportunities. Now in its sixth year, 30 committed students from a wide range of disciplines at Hamburg’s eight universities are benefiting from this special scholarship.
Through our sponsorship, we aim to encourage young people to forge their own path and realise their potential – regardless of their background or starting circumstances. In this way, we combine our commitment to social responsibility with the aim of creating sustainable prospects for society.
