The tank farm has a capacity of around 8,500 cubic metres and offers transhipment facilities for tankers and tanker lorries.
The acquisition is in line with the Mabanaft Group’s strategy. Mabanaft offers its customers a broad and flexible product range – not only for the conventional market, but also plays an active role in providing distribution channels for low-carbon fuel solutions. Expanding and repurposing its existing facilities and expertise is crucial to enabling Mabanaft to meet the evolving needs of its existing and growing customer base, whilst helping to overcome the challenges of the energy transition.
With this acquisition, Oiltanking Germany is expanding its portfolio to a total of twelve domestic sites. The tank farm enables the Mabanaft Group to supply its customers in the greater Kassel region with liquid energy sources.
“With this terminal, we are adding another key site to our network, enabling us to further expand our presence in Germany and supply our customers in the region with high-quality liquid fuels, whilst maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards,” says Reza Adami, Head of Storage at Mabanaft and Managing Director of Oiltanking Germany.
The parties aim to complete the transaction in the first half of 2025, subject to the fulfilment of the relevant conditions precedent. TransTank GmbH, a joint venture between Oiltanking Germany and BP, will continue to manage operations at the site following completion of the transaction.
