Mabanaft is a founding member of AquaVentus

Pioneering project for the offshore production of green hydrogen: Mabanaft has joined the newly founded AquaVentus support association, which aims to install a total of 10 gigawatts of offshore wind turbines in the North Sea between Heligoland and Dogger Bank by 2035. One million tonnes of green hydrogen per year could soon be produced on the high seas.

The EU and Germany have set themselves the target of becoming climate-neutral by 2050. The production of green hydrogen from renewable energy sources at sea can make a significant contribution to this. AquaVentus presented this pioneering project at a digital parliamentary evening on 8 December 2020 (see press release).

Mabanaft is proud to form part of the AquaVentus platform alongside a strong group of leading companies, organisations and institutions.

“We are convinced that the transition to a cleaner and low-carbon economy requires a broad spectrum of solutions to meet our customers’ future energy needs. Green hydrogen will be one of the key components of this transformation,” comments Oleksandr Siromakha, Head of Sustainable Fuels at Mabanaft GmbH & Co. KG.

The AquaVentus Support Association comprises innovative organisations and research institutions, as well as leading international companies, which are heralding a new era of climate-friendly energy through the production of green hydrogen at sea.
