Driving Sustainability in British Truck Racing

A Partnership Built on Progress
Heavy duty motorsport presents unique sustainability challenges. Racing trucks weigh more than five tonnes, generate in excess of 1,000 horsepower and operate under extreme performance demands throughout every race weekend.
Since becoming a Sustainability Partner in 2024, MB Energy has supplied Renewable Diesel to support the Championship’s transition towards lower-carbon operations. The partnership demonstrates how existing diesel-powered fleets can significantly reduce lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions without requiring vehicle modifications or compromising performance.
The continued growth of the partnership reflects the increasing confidence in Renewable Diesel as a practical and immediate decarbonisation solution.
The Growing Demand for Renewable Diesel
The Championship has expanded considerably over the last two seasons. In 2024, an average of 14 trucks competed in each race, with approximately 4,200 litres of Renewable Diesel supplied per event.
In 2025, participation increased to around 20 trucks per race, requiring approximately 6,000 litres of Renewable Diesel at each event. This was a 43% increase in fuel demand that mirrors the Championship’s continued growth.
Across the current season, MB Energy has already supplied approximately 36,000 litres of Renewable Diesel, with a further 6,000 litres scheduled for the remaining three race meetings at Donington Park, Le Mans and Brands Hatch. By the end of the season, more than 42,000 litres of Renewable Diesel will have supported the Championship’s sustainability ambitions.

Renewable Diesel (HVO) offers organisations an immediate pathway towards reducing greenhouse gas emissions while continuing to utilise existing diesel infrastructure and equipment. For sectors where electrification remains challenging, such as heavy transport and motorsport, Renewable Diesel provides a practical transition fuel that supports emission reduction without disrupting operations.
