Onroute Celebrates Grand Opening of Swindon Truckstop

Onroute Truckstops Ltd, part of the MB Energy Group and operator of high-quality truckstop facilities across the UK, is delighted to announce the grand reopening of its newly refurbished truckstop facility in Swindon.

The Swindon truck stop is situated directly on the A420, a short distance from junction 15 of the M4 motorway. The site has been extensively modernised and refurbished to offer greater comfort to lorry drivers and other road users. This underlines Onroute’s ongoing commitment to providing safe and well-equipped rest and refuelling facilities along the UK’s major transport routes. The site now features a new access and security system (currently working towards TAPA Level 3 certification), three additional parking areas for lorries and a fully refurbished service building with modern toilet facilities. With a fully automated, 24-hour lorry refuelling station offering diesel, renewable diesel (HVO) and AdBlue, a secure and well-lit car park for more than 80 vehicles, a modern café serving freshly prepared meals and other essential on-site services, the Swindon Truckstop is now fully geared towards the well-being of drivers, load security and user comfort, whilst also meeting the current and future needs of customers on the road.

The introduction of renewable diesel (HVO) at the Swindon site reflects Onroute’s commitment to supporting its customers during the energy transition and responds to the growing pressure on fleet operators to reduce emissions and publish environmental data. HVO is now available across Onroute’s entire network and is set to play a key role as customers seek practical, short-term solutions for the decarbonisation of road transport.

The official reopening took place on Friday 16 January 2026. Those present included representatives of the trades and contractors who carried out the refurbishment work, representatives of the Department for Transport (DfT), which co-funded the project, as well as industry representatives, customers, suppliers and members of the MB Energy Group’s senior management.

Hannah Tooze, Deputy Director of Road Freight at the UK Department for Transport, gave a short speech before Heidi Alexander, Member of Parliament for Swindon South, officially opened the truck stop by raising the new barrier. Emmanuel Bercea, a tanker driver for Turners of Soham, then delivered a load of 36,000 litres of diesel, supplied by MB Energy via its subsidiary BWOC Ltd.

“Today marks a significant milestone for Onroute Truckstops and our ongoing investment in critical infrastructure for the UK logistics and transport sector,” says André Cardoso, SVP Sales & Marketing at MB Energy. “It reflects our overarching strategy to invest in the right facilities, expand our portfolio and offer agile, future-proof solutions that support our customers in the energy transition.”

“The refurbished facility in Swindon is an example of our commitment to the wellbeing and safety of drivers and to serving those who keep our economy running,” adds Florian Lückmann, Director of Commercial Road Transport at MB Energy. “We are proud to open this upgraded facility and look forward to welcoming drivers and travellers from across Europe.”

Onroute has a growing network of truck stops across the UK, providing essential services for drivers and fleet operators. Onroute is part of the Commercial Road Transport division of the MB Energy Group, which provides fuel card services and operates more than 400 conventional petrol stations as part of the tankpool24 network. This includes more than 2,000 petrol stations in Europe and more than 750 in Germany.
